Kahua, a leading provider of capital program and construction project management software, announced that San Jacinto College in Texas has selected Kahua to replace the institution’s aging Proliance system for managing its capital planning, building and renovation processes.
San Jacinto College (SJC) is a public community college serving the Greater Houston area. The school has 41,000 enrolled students and more than 200 degrees and workforce certifications offered at its five campuses in East Harris County, the most populous county in Texas. SJC has multiple industry partnerships with national leaders in aerospace, healthcare, maritime and petrochemical industries.
In 2021, SJC was placed in the top five of the Community College Excellence program out of 1,100 schools by the Aspen Institute, and it was similarly recognized in 2017 and 2019.
The college had been using AECOM’s version of Proliance, which Trimble is now sunsetting. College officials were interested in implementing a new solution that would be able to support current and future expansion projects. After learning of Kahua’s positive reviews from other colleges in its network, a demo was set up to exhibit the construction project management information system (PMIS) features.
When choosing Kahua, SJC noted Kahua’s experience in higher education, its positive feedback in the market and its intuitive user interface as key factors in the selection. Shortly afterwards, SJC selected Kahua as its vendor of choice. Byrne Software Technologies – which is a member of the Kahua Partner Network – will lead the implementation.
