University of Guelph Selects Kahua

University of Guelph, a Public Research University in Canada, Selects Kahua as Its Program Management Information System of Choice

Kahua, a leading provider of capital program and construction project management information systems (PMIS), has been selected by the University of Guelph (U of G) in Ontario, Canada, to deliver a full lifecycle program management information system.

U of G is the fifth largest in Canada, serving approximately 30,000 students and more than 800 full-time faculty. It needed a system to manage roughly $100M in annual capital projects. Particularly important were managing and controlling project costs, collecting and maintaining contractor data, and centralizing construction documentation.

With almost 150 buildings on campus, the university has over 7.1 million square feet of space. Its weighted average building age is approximately 51 years, so significant ongoing reinvestment is required to maintain these facilities.

The annual capital plan is used to set priorities for facility renewal, major renovations and significant construction projects. On Jan. 26, the Board of Directors approved the expenditure of $28.4M for a variety of capital renewal projects ranging from service tunnel repairs to exterior rehabilitation of student residence buildings, making a flexible PMIS necessary to keep projects on time and on budget.
