Kahua Sponsors Collegiate Identical Twin Golfers  

The passage of “Name, Likeness and Image” (NIL) legislation last year opened the door for corporations to sponsor collegiate athletes. 

When Kahua CEO Scott Unger decided to delve into that form of marketing, he knew he wanted to select athletes who reflected the company’s values. That was found in identical twin brothers Maxwell Ford (University of Georgia) and David Ford (University of North Carolina), who grew up in the Atlanta-metro area near Kahua corporate headquarters.  

“Along with being ranked among the elite amateur golfers in the world (WAGR), David and Maxwell exemplify Kahua’s Core Values of Performance, Continuous Improvement and Teamwork, working on their game from sun-up to sun-down, while still finding time to mentor younger players,” Unger said. “Kahua’s intention is to continue this relationship with these young men as they progress through their careers.”  

The rising sophomores (who also have a triplet sister Abigail who attends UGA) are included in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and have won too many tournaments to mention. Notably, Maxwell was named to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team and was selected as the SEC Freshman Player of the Week three times this past season. His 16-under mark at the Puerto Rico Classic is the third best in UGA history.   

David was once ranked the No. 1 junior player in the country, was the second highest ranked freshman in the NCAA and was named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Year. He tied for fifth at the NCAA Championship and is one of five players on the Golf Coaches Association of America’s All-Freshman team.

The players are mirror twins, which means David plays left-handed and Maxwell swings right. The siblings graduated from Rivers Academy in Alpharetta, Ga.
